4 Enabling Compiz Fusion

In order to enable Compiz Fusion, we use the Compiz Fusion Icon. Go to Applications > System Tools > Compiz Fusion Icon:

A blue icon for Compiz Fusion will appear in the upper right panel. Right-click on it and go to Select Window Decorator where you select Emerald:

Then select Reload Window Manager. This will actually start Compiz Fusion:

6 Keyboard Shortcuts

Here's a list of the most common Compiz Fusion keyboard shortcuts. If they work for you depends on what effects you enabled in the CompizConfig Settings Manager.

SUPER+SHIFT+DRAG LEFT MOUSE = draw fire
SUPER+SHIFT+C = clear fire
CTRL+ALT+DRAG LEFT MOUSE = rotate cube
CTRL+ALT+LEFT ARROW = rotate cube
CTRL+ALT+DOWN ARROW = flat desktop
SHIFT+ALT+UP = initiate window picker
CTRL+ALT+DOWN = unfold cube
ALT+TAB = window switch
SUPER+TAB = flip switcher or ring switcher, depending on which is enabled.
ALT+F7 = initiate 'move windows'
SHIFT+F9 = water effect
SHIFT+F10 = slow animations
CTRL+ALT+D = show desktop

For Grouping and Tabbing:
SUPER+S = select single window
SUPER+T = tab group
SUPER+Left = change left tab
SUPER+Right = change right tab
SUPER+G = group windows
SUPER+U = ungroup windows
SUPER+R = remove group window
SUPER+C = close group
SUPER+X = ignore group
Hold the SUPER button then select the windows you want to group and then hit SUPER+G.

The SUPER key is the Windows key on most keyboards.

7 How To Automatically Start The Fusion Icon When You Log In

Of course, you don't want to start Compiz Fusion manually each time you log in. Fortunately there's a way to make it start automatically when you log in. Go to System > Preferences > Sessions:

On the Startup Programs tab, click on the Add button:

An Add Startup Program window comes up. Type in a name (e.g. Fusion Icon), and then click on the Browse... button to select the command to start Fusion Icon:

Go to the /usr/bin folder and pick fusion-icon (or type in /usr/bin/fusion-icon manually in the Command field of the Add Startup Program window):

If you like you can add a comment, but it's not necessary. Click on OK when you're done:

That's it. Now Compiz Fusion will start automatically each time you log in.
